Blending is a very productive process of word building in modern English. That is one of the ways to create neologisms. This is my favourite way of coining new words, simply because it is very creative. Plus, when you know what words coined the new word there is absolutely no problem to guess the meaning.

Many people ask me if they should learn 2 or even more languages at the same time. The thing is that if you want, nobody can stop you, but to my mind it wouldn't be very efficient.
According to FSI you need ca 750h to learn Spanish or French, 900h to learn German, 1100h to learn Polish or Russian and 2200h to learn Arabic or Chinese.
Learning a new script can be challenging and many people are put off when the language they consider learning involves getting acquainted with a different writing system. I have learned some languages because they have a different script and it was a very interesting experience.

I have always been fascinated with etymology, and wrote my MA thesis on borrowings. I find understanding of the language structure of utmost importance to learning it much faster and in a more effective way.
